Privatization of Ivano-Frankivsk Boiler and Welding Plant Attracts Substantial Interest

On September 26th, 13 bidders participated in the privatization auction for the sole property complex of the Ivano-Frankivsk Boiler and Welding Plant. The winning bidder, a local businessman Bohdan Pukish and his company PP “Westchim” (co-owner of the “Presmash” plant), offered an unusually high price of 2.6 billion UAH for the plant, which is located near the city center and sits on 14.5 hectares of land.

“The plant, also known as Factory 63, began operations immediately after World War II in 1945. In 2010, it was transferred from the Ministry of Defense to the state-owned Ukroboronprom concern. The decision to privatize the enterprise was made in 2019.”

The plant’s book value, which served as the starting price, stood at 20.4 million UAH. The high winning bid highlights the strategic value of the property and the competitiveness of the privatization process, which attracted significant interest from investors in the local industrial sector.

This privatization auction represents an important milestone in the ongoing reform of Ukraine’s state-owned enterprises. The transfer of the Ivano-Frankivsk Boiler and Welding Plant to private ownership is expected to drive modernization, enhance efficiency, and attract new investment to the region’s industrial base.
